This facility is run down, for sale and only has had minor face value repairs. So if your the buyer- beware.
ReplyDeleteManagement offers little professionalism, false truths in their web site, turnover of staff- is like a revolving door!
They were good to ask boarders for money, to put sand into the outdoor arena, then shortly after put it up for sale. Indoor arena footing is hard as a rock- good for people to walk their horses, or those who do things like basic dressage. You will need to wear a mask because of the dust!!! You will need your winter coat as they barely heat the place!
Take your money and run- find a closer, healthier and safer place to ride.
Wow, glad someone posted this, I totally agree. Moldly hay, late turn in, poor quality in the arena. They should have done some work otherwise the 30 horses wouldn't have left. Take your money some where else for sure.
ReplyDeleteHorse clinics- beware!!!
I have had an amazing experience here. Horse care was always number one with exceptional quality hay and service. Horses are extremely well looked after and I found the arena footing fantastic.
ReplyDeleteThey actually have a heater installed strictly for spectators and keep the rest of the facility at a perfect temperature for horses.
The owners of the facility go above and beyond what I am used to on a daily basis. Feeding outdoor horses breakfast every day and offering free choice hay of very good quality.
I know there was a large group of horses asked to leave and it has really changed the atmosphere for the best.
I am surprised to read the comments above,I have been boarding my horse at Legacy Ridge for years and it is by far the best care I have ever received. It is the only place I have boarded where I don't worry about my horse at all!!! It has been terrific!
ReplyDeletePS: How can an arena be rock hard and dusty at the same time?
It sounds like the individual who posted the blog about the footing and staff turnover has sour grapes! Often a turnover in staff can mean the unpleasant atmosphere and abusive dealings caused by individuals who think the world revolves around them. Enough said on that topic, but I must say that I have found Legacy Ridge to be a wonderful place. The most impressive thing about Legacy, is the care of the horses. The owners and staff go above and beyond with night checks, daily herd checks and an excellent free feed schedule. In my mind that care, is far more important than a fancy whitewashed flowery barn, which quite honestly the horses don't care diddly! Thanks for this opportunity and to those at Legacy Ridge...thank you!
ReplyDeleteJust a comment to the individual who complained about late turn-in. One of the things that I like at legacy ridge is the fact that they don't mind turning in later at night (especially in the summer) which allows the horses to spend minimum time indoors as opposed to being penned up inside. I guess you can't please all the people all the time. Personally I'd rather my horse be outside longer and inside for shorter periods. Isn't it healthier
ReplyDeleteI have had the privilege of teaching at Legacy Ridge for the last number of years and I have found Legacy Ridge to be a wonderful barn to teach at. The owners have shown much empathy for the horses in their care in that they always put the health and safety of the horse first. They are very strict about keeping the place clean and taking all bio hazzard precautions necessary. When they purchased the property they worked very hard at putting in good, solid, safe fencing. They have a very good relationship with their vet which is important for a large boarding facility. Whenever I come to teach the arena is most always freshly harrowed or had been recently harrowed. The owners are great people who put their heart and soul into running a safe and quality horse operation. I am excited about a number of world class clinicians Legacy Ridge will be bringing in in 2012. I would encourage people to attend and go experience for themselves what Legacy Ridge has to offer.
ReplyDeleteI have been boarding at Legacy Ridge for years and love the fact that I feel my horse is cared for better than I could at home. My work involves travel and often I am away for weeks at a time. I rest assured that my outside board horse is checked at least twice daily and more if the need arises. Extra special care was given when my horse needed a special diet. Things that go over and above are too numerous to mention. Top quality hay. Individualized feed. Horse dynamics are watched closely to ensure they get along. Inside boarders are totally pampered. Stall walls are washed! Diet pens. Mandatory quarantine for new arrivals. Spatious lockers and even room for a few tack boxes. Everyone is respectful of each others discipline and horses. Arena is harrowed daily, last thing at night.
ReplyDeleteStaff are friendly and intelligent and really take pride in their work. The owners are involved and very supportive, and always working hard on something or other. I think of them as friends.
I have been boarding at Legacy Ridge for over 18 months. I originally signed on for the easy access to the Blackfoot Trail but over time that has proved insignificant to the total package Legacy offers. Without a doubt, the care provided the horses is exceptional (this is the priority of the owners). The staff love the horses and care for them as individuals. This stable is horse focused - it's all about the horses - and it all comes together incredibly well. I feel incredibly relaxed whenever I come to ride, play or just groom my horse. My horse (and me) are happy here.
ReplyDeleteIf your looking for quality care, good feed and a friendly atmosphere for your horses.... Then DONT EVEN LOOK HERE!!!!!! You are deceived in believing your horses are feed 2-3x a day, that's a lie they are feed once a day usually between the hours of 11 and 2. You would think horses would be the priority here but their not, indoor board is let out and then the barn is cleaned because looks are the priority here not your horse. My horse was injured and it's injury was played down, when I left there was a cold that went thru the barn 70% of the horses were sick and instead of admitting to sick horses the barn told concerned boarders and vets that it was due to rotten hay! So as you can guess top quality hay, what a joke!!! Dust, old or rotten hay was feed, on occasion there was decent hay but 65% of the time it wasn't. Barn staff turn over is insane!!! Your learning a new person every 2 weeks I quit trying to learn who they were after a couple months of the rotating door. Watch out for their Farrier he'll totally screw over your horses hooves, 1 trim and he never touched them again I would rather pay my own farrier mileage then in the end spend mass amount of money trying to recover their feet later. Watch out for the barn owner she is like dealing with Jeckle and Hyde. Everything has an extra cost expesially if you are out door board. When you arrive your horse is put in quarantine for 2wks, we were told we could not use the indoor arena because of possible contamination, okay but understand that you can haul in and use the arena and 4H uses the arena and they have NOT been properly quarantined, I have also seen a rider haul 2 horses in and put it in a stall while she rode the other right BESIDE a legacy horse that was on stall rest... Your animals are said to be checked 4x a day I blanketed on a really cold and wet day the next day I was a little worried about it getting alittle to warm but I knew they would remove them if they were to hot (at a cost) that is, when I talked with the owner a couple days later I advised her of my concerns and I was told that if all 40 horses had blankets on and they had to check them all the time they would never get any thing done. So at that moment to me she admited that my horses care was of no concern! Never so happy to see that place in my mirrors as I left!!
ReplyDeleteLegacy ridge has been sold and is no longer owned by the people reported in this review, good luck to the new owners, i wish you nothing but success:)
