Steve is a Certified Natural Balance Farrier, Certified Equine Massage Therapist and a Chiropractic Therapist who believes in treating each horse as an individual. He allows the horse to speak for itself and treats accordingly, always doing something for the horse not too the horse.
Steve received his formal farrier training at Mission Farrier School in Washington State; a Certified Natural Balance School specializing in lameness prevention and management. It was here that Steve mastered the ability to provide any horse with the correct balance around the coffin bone, minimizing distortion and providing healthy foot function. Steve is also an active member of the Equine Lameness Prevention Organization (ELPO) in Penrose, Colorado; an organization dedicated to equine soundness and the latest in therapeutic treatment for all types of lameness.
For Steve’s Equine Massage Therapy and chiropractic training, he attended the Equine Rehab School, Cottam, Ontario; providing him the knowledge and experience to gain and enhance the freedom of movement within the horse’s muscles and joints.
Recognizing that therapy is not a replacement for proper veterinary care, Steve is more than happy to work in conjunction with your veterinarian when required.
Steve, grounded in the traditional Vaquero ways, truly is a horseman committed to always doing right by the horse. It is this commitment that feeds his desire for continual learning, ensuring he stays current in the latest research on equine soundness and biomechanics and is able to bring this knowledge to your equine friend!
