Don't hire this man he has untrained people riding and handling your horse. We took a well broke colt to him for finishing, we got the horse back ruined, he is head shy, hard to catch, pulls back on the halter! Beware of his trainer! Joanne Helm

ReplyDeleteI have been happy with everything Jody has done with my horses and I have more booked in to go to his place. I have been barrel racing for six years around Jody and his daughter and have never seen Jody or his daughter hit their horses or even be rough with them. I would feel safe anytime sending horses to the Elliot's cause man are they a good hand with horses! Kristina Kobi
ReplyDeleteFor the record I have never trained a horse for a Joanne Helm and have no idea who she is. Jody Elliott
ReplyDeleteUm just a grant person here .Watch jody Elliott train horses n looking bak I could have learned a lot.horse trainers put all into horses n customers.bein human n train horses n neve r expert people that rubbish horse trainers hav never put in the effort to make a horse. N dont appreciate bein on good horse.wen horse comes home from trainer keep ridin em.or if ur not committed 2 horse or don't have time ride horse.DONT BLAME OR RUBBISH THE HORSE TRAINER.
DeleteI would not recommend Jody.
ReplyDeleteWe brought him a healthy mate that we wanted barrel trained, she was skiddish, and not very trusting, but ridable. We disclosed everything to Jody prior to driving her to Lacombe.
He agreed to work with her and keep us updated on progress, we had to contact him which was hard, as he never gave updates. We actually finally got an update when we seen him at a barrel jackpot. He said things were going slow and she may need more time. Again we asked for an update with that. The next time we spoke 4 days later he said our horse was injured a week earlier and he could no longer work with her. So after 4 weeks we picked up our mate, with a swollen leg, and were required to pay the full amount of training.
Once returning home we received a bill
In the mail for vet costs , Jody had a vet come out and X-ray the mare.
I’ve tried for about a year to be in contact with Jody. He refuses to answer me back, until today when he pretty much put the blame on me.
Now I’m left with a lame mate, vet costs and I’m out his training fees. I’ve asked to settle this civilly But he chooses to take it to court,
He refuses to give me his lawyers name or insurance company information,( I assume he carries business insurance because he’s training horses ).
It’s unfortunate, we are reccomendes by some good people.
There are always another side to a story. This person sent a horse that they had tried to start and messed and were looking for someone to fix their screw up. The mare came for training with numerous issues. She came up lame and got the okay for a vet to look at her. The vet couofind anything significant and suggested some time off. The clients took her and continued to with her until she was unsound. They then refused to pay the vet bill and had to be taken to collections and to this day still haven’t paid their bill at the vets.
DeleteJody Elliott takes advantage of people who work for him, especially a 17 year old student. She only worked a couple days and then received a full time job offer that she couldn't refuse as she just was graduating. He now refuses to pay her for the time she did work. He will not respond to any text messages she has sent, nor did he respond to a facebook post asking for her money. She only worked 6 hours at $15.00 cash per hour so I am sure it won't break his bank. Unfortunately students need all the income they can get especially when they did the job that was expected of them. So by reading some of these posts, he is not a very reputable business person by no means.
ReplyDeleteThis supposed employee didn’t complete the simple tasks that she was asked to do and we had to get someone to redo her job for her. Plus she left without due notice.
ReplyDeleteFurthermore more in regards to this so called employee we have found some of our tack missing since she left.
DeleteI have worked for Jody in the past and he has been a great employer with high standards and always paid on time.
ReplyDeleteThe above statements are untrue about the mare, when she returned home we gave her rest and revetted her, there was a bone chip found and the mare was considered lame. When she went to Jody her only issue was she was very timid. Boy did we learn quick we choose the wrong trainer!
ReplyDeleteJody does not look after animals
Properly.
There is no point arguing with this person as she will never admit that she lied about the horse’s state of training when she was sent. This person has a known history of deceiving and being untruthful. I was at the trainers place when this horse arrived and can guarantee that this mare had more issues than is being stated.
