Our Philosophy:

Our goal is to bring you equines that are raised, trained and used for trail riding. Most of these horses have other great careers ahead of them. We believe that their training from the trails and in the mountains will teach them principles. These principles will form a foundation of basics that they will remember for the rest of their lives.

Eaglesfield is owned by Brian and Colleen Coleman of Didsbury, Alberta, Canada. Brian is a six time World Champion teamster whose background is in farming with horses; Colleen's background is in light horses. They have been training horses together for about 25 years. Their pride is in teaching other people how to safely and effectively drive their horses.

They produce 2-5 Percheron foals per year and foal out mares of all breeds for their clients.

Our interest in this community stems from our desire to share our experiences and our passion for the draft horse.

Our home is located on a ranch about eighty miles southwest of Edmonton, Alberta near the village of Winfield. Living in the country is ideal for us because we have the quiet of the natural surroundings, but we are still only a short drive, on pavement, to the city. We have acres of tame grazing land interspersed with pine, spruce, larch, poplar, birch and willow. The beaver dams, dugouts and muskegs make the countryside beautiful to behold. Because this hilly terrain, with its beautiful green pastures, is also home for wild animals such as deer, elk, moose, coyotes, wolves and lynx it gives us a "LIVE IN THE WILDERNESS " feeling. It is also a scenic location to raise our horses and dogs and paint pictures.

ASHAM WEST BELGIANS AND MAPLE WEST PERCHERONS

AshAm West is situated in the foothills of the Canadian Rockies, 5 minutes south of Calgary, Alberta. Our name, AshAm West, is derived from two sources. The "AshAm" comes from the names of our two daughters, Ashley and Amy and the "West" from "Maple West", John's home farm in Ontario, where his father raised Percherons for many years.

At AshAm West Belgians we place a high level of importance on the pedigrees of our horses. We have a breeding program that consists of our herd sire, W.B. State of the Art, (a Congolaise Supreme son) and 6-8 mares. These mares are from such bloodlines as Greentop Centennial, Orndorff's U2 Charlie, Korry's Captain, Master's Eddie, Marquette Du Marais, Misty River Ben and Orndorff's Highlight.

We enjoy showing our horses annually at the Calgary Exhibition and Stampede and at the Mountainview County Fair in Olds, Alberta. On several occasions, we have shown them in Sandpoint, Idaho and in Toronto at both the C.N.E. and the Royal Agricultural Winter Fair. We have also shown at the
NABC III, IV & V.
