WILDWIND HORSEMANSHIP

COLT STARTING / TRAINING ENGLISH / WESTERN / DRESSAGE / JUMPING / REINING

Wildwind Horsemanship is now taking bookings for horse training and colt starting. We have over 20 years experience with horses and specialize in starting and performance training.

Stephanie has 20+ years experience with horses. She has lots of experience working with young/green and "problem" horses. She herself is working under one of Canada's top Dressage Coaches and has lots of professional experience working with all levels of horses and riders. Learn from someone who is dedicated in her own training as a rider and can bring to you a new and refreshing program.

Stephanie's goals as a trainer and coach are to develop a partnership based on trust, lightness and harmony. Regardless of your discipline of choice or whether you’re a beginner or an experienced horse person we can develop a program to suit you and your horse.

Training includes all care, feed, and boarding costs including supplements and minerals. Horses have large private paddocks during the day and come into stalls with runs for the night. They have access to hay and water at all times. Our goal is to ensure that horses receive the best care and are happy and healthy throughout their stay. Training programs are designed specifically for you and your horse. Lessons throughout the training period are included in the price and you can have as many lessons a week as you would like. I recommend at least 1-2x a week if possible you come for a lesson. This is however not necessary if you are unable or live far away. We are a smaller operation and therefore have the time to devote to each horse ensuring the best care and quality. If you have any questions feel free to email or call  or find us on Facebook under Wildwind Horsemanship.

WESTON REINERS

Reposted from AlbertaSPCA.org

On March 27, 2013, the Alberta SPCA received a call from a concerned individual who had seen a trainer injuring a horse through the aggressive use of his spurs and reins.

The caller had photographed the horse’s injuries: numerous deep cuts to the sides of the animal, which resulted in significant bleeding, as well as bleeding from the mouth. The witness also gave our peace officer a video recording of the same trainer injuring a different horse in the same fashion, with the same results, earlier in February 2013.

During the course of the investigation, more people came forward with information. They all described incidents where the trainer was observed injuring and causing distress to horses with training methods that are not acceptable to the riding community. His methods included using spurs intended to cut into the flesh, tying back a horse’s head and withholding feed and water.

Kyle Ronald Weston pleaded guilty in Grande Prairie Provincial Court on February 15, 2014, to four counts relating to section 2(1) of the Animal Protection Act. He was fined a total of $4,000.

COUNTRYSIDE FARMS

Quarter Horse breeding operation - primarily raising reining horses. Some of the broodmares are cutting breed - making them good crosses to "Hes A Bueno Jac" (son of Hollywood Jac 86) our primary stallion.

We do breed our mares to outside stallions as we feel that we have great mares that cross on other great stallions also.

Our facility is located just east of the town of Lacombe about 5 miles. We have 80 acres with a 84'x 200' indoor arena and a 110' x 200' outdoor arena. We have a 14 stall heated barn. BETTS QUARTER HORSES

Congrats to: Ken and our stallion "EYEM STILL SMOKIN" for placing 3RD in the Versatility Ranch Horse Show at Farmfair in Edmonton in 2013!

Western Horseman ranks the top bloodlines used in today's working ranch remudas! (Oct 2007) And TWO EYED JACK is #4! DOC BAR is #2!

Our biggest goal here at Betts Quarter Horses is to produce a solid minded individual, with a great disposition, willing mind, eye appeal, versatility, and a pedigree to go with it. We believe that the mare is the major player in a breeding operation, and we are very proud of our broodmare band, consisting of bloodlines not often found ON a set of papers anymore. Over the years we have selected and culled according to our goal. We train all our own prospects so we know how they turn out and you can purchase with confidence.

We currently stand 2 stallions, "Eyem Still Smokin", a beautiful buckskin, and "Mr Amarillo Chex", a palomino. Visit our stallions page to see pedigrees and accomplishments.

We offer over 30 years experience in the training end of our operation. We made our living on the pastures of Alberta for over 20 years giving us a solid background in cattle handleing and horse development. We have a small indoor facility with an 11 stall barn which enables us to train year round, as well as a large outdoor pen with access to cattle. Ken trains full time with a high demand for his abilities to develop a young horse with a solid foudation. He puts an emphasis on reining maneuvers, respect and performing willingly, so they can then go on to any discipline you choose. Any prospects purchased here have been used and pressured at the right times so you can buy with confidence in the colts abilities and disposition.

If you're interested in bringing a colt for training, please contact us for details and costs.

So, please come in, take a look, and contact us if anything interests you.
