CARLYN GOULD

Carlyn’s experience and background with troubled horses (and riders) has enabled her to develop confident and effective riders, and safe, reliable horses. She combines techniques based on natural horsemanship, dressage, hunter/jumper, and equitation. Carlyn teaches on the basis of riding through feel and effective communication with your horse by instilling effective riding habits and developing rider skill that can then help to improve the horses understanding of the aids. Ultimately a horse that understands communication will gain confidence and therefore both horse and rider will be able to be happy, safe, and effective as partners together. "My goal is always to create a safe and positive learning environment for both horse and rider." Carlyn Gould is currently offering private lessons for beginner thru advanced riders. Lessons can be tailored to a show program, problem-solving or simply to gain further knowledge. She travels to YOUR facility and is available to Calgary and area.

A little bit more about the coach: Carlyn has been operating her mobile lesson program throughout Central and Southern Alberta since 2003 (Red Deer, Ponoka, Heisler, Rimbey, Lacombe, Blackfalds, Rumsey, Calgary, Strathmore, Bragg Creek, Okotoks, Millarville, Dewinton, Blackie, Brooks, Bassano, Cochrane, Crossfield, to name but a few....).
Carlyn has traditionally specialized in the hunter/jumper/equitation discipline, but has clientele from many other disciplines, including dressage, western, trail and 3-day event. She has a strong background in natural horsemanship (working from the ground up), fundamental training and understanding of the dressage development and training, and both knowledge and experience with hunter/jumper and equitation. She incorporates all of these techniques into the development of well rounded horses and riders for show or leisure. Whether your problem is ground manners or lead changes, she can help.
Her background has involved dealing with many distressed, problem and difficult horses. Her experience with difficult and problem horses gives her the skills to help riders overcome their fears and regain a positive relationship with their horses without using unnecessary equipment or physical restraints. She is also a lead change specialist with horses having problems with their changes or just learning to do their changes!
Carlyn has been teaching privately for individuals as well as organizations including Alberta Pony Club (also is an examiner for Pony Club), Adult Riding Cooperative, Alberta 4-H. She also maintains work by performing judge services for local shows throughout the region, including 4-H, Pony Cub, Local Hunter/Jumper shows, and the Welsh Pony & Cob Society. Whether you are looking to show or ride recreationally, to learn more or work through a problem with your horse, Carlyn can help you get there. Please contact for details.
Carlyn is currently accepting client intake for the Fall/Winter 2010-2011, limited space remaining. She is fully insured with current first aid certification.
