DALE DODD QUARTER HORSES

Dale Dodd Quarter Horses is located at Olds ,Alberta,Canada,on a 9000 head family owned feedlot. Our farm consists of 16 1/4 sections, where we have most of the land planted to silage, with the remainder being pasture and hay.

Mares, foals and yearlings are put out to pasture in early May, after all mares are safely back in foal.

Our Facility consists of a 140 x 70 Indoor arena, 3 0utdoor, 1 show pen, 1 round 125 ft and a 145 ft round pen. A 100X 50 Heated barn, with attached colt starting pen., hot walker and foaling/security camera. All arenas are backed into separate 250 head feedlot pens, for easy access to fresh cattle. Both pens are replaced with fresh cattle, once per month.

Colts and show horses are trail rode every second day, to insure well being while becoming extremely BROKE! All horses are broke to open and close the 40 odd gates through-out the facility. Salt, mineral and vitamins are supplied free choice.

We vaccinate in spring with a 4-way, fall with Rhino and every 2 months on show horses. I WORM RELIGIOUSLY every 3 months with IVERMEC. Horses do NOT eat off the ground (re-infest with worms). They are provided with huge tractor tires to keep manure away from their feed!

Horses reside outside, double blanketed, in large pipe pens, with bedded shelters and automatic waterers. I do not believe in keeping horses in box stalls, unless they are about to foal,or are sick! I feel the effect of ammonia on the lungs and stocking up of the limbs causes irreversible damage, not to mention the cost and time spent cleaning stalls! Horses were meant to live outside!
