WILD ROSE ICELANDIC HORSE FARM

Come and try the icelandic horse! They are built with strong bone density so they can carry adults as well as children. They have 5 gaits instead of the usual three in other breeds. Walk, trot, canter, TOLT and PACE.

The tolt is a smooth running walk cherished for long rides in the mountains. The pace is a fun and exciting racing gait similar to what the standardbreds do. The Icelandic horse is a multi talented breed that can do anything. They make excellent jumpers because of their athletisism and snappy knees over jumps, the show horses have big movements for dressage, because of their backround of herding sheep many of them have a herding instinct, the quiet ones are fantastic for children and nervous riders(no typical pony attitude in them. They think more like a golden retriever) the higher energy types do extremely well in CTRs and endurance.

They average at around 13.2+hh but they can be in the 12hh range or up to 15hh range. They have dense winter coats for the cold temps(no need for blankets) and they have light shiney coats in the summer. They are well known for their thick manes and tails and their fantastic temperments.

We offer lessons, horses for sale, and Icelandic horse training. We have an indoor arena for lessons and have lesson horses to be ridden.

Come and try a lesson with an Icelandic Horse! You will love it! Lessons are $30 per lesson.
