I offer starting of young horses (colts) and help with common horse related problems: horses that don't like to load in the trailer, stand for your farrier, pull while tied, spook around traffic, desensitizing to plastic tarps, livestock and much, much more. If there are other, more specific, concerns you might have, I can do my best to assist with those as well.I also offer private one on one riding and horsemanship lessons. I strongly believe that they are great for anyone interested in building a solid foundation and establishing trust and communication between a human and their four-legged friend. The lessons are also great for increasing your knowledge in tack, bits, saddle-fitting, etc.
I like to keep the sessions tailored to your needs as well as low key and fun for your enjoyment. Whether you want to ride in the arena or out on the trails is entirely up to you and what you feel comfortable with.
Also offering following:
Equine Massage,
Trimming,
Saddle fitting your horse.

We hired John / Chechmate training (goes by Flyingmacaws Free on Facebook) to help us with our cow phobic TW mare. After 2 sessions at our boarding location it was recommended that "Nubie go to John / Chechmate for 30 days (we agreed to 2 weeks as we planned to ride her during our summer holidays beginning July 5).
We dropped off our horse "Nubie" at John's place by Rimbey, Alberta in the early afternoon of June 22. I went with my friend to pick "Nubie" up on July 4 @ Noon... Before I even seen "Nubie" my friend and I witnessed John / Czechmate grab a grey dog by the neck and throw the dog (the grey dog jumped on my friends truck door - this was John's reaction - not his dog). When I first seen Nubie I could tell as I got closer she was upset / anxious / wide eyed (normally a happy people friendly horse). She looked terrible (skinny - stressed out- dirty). Noting that "Nubie" was not wearing her halter or lead rope that we sent with her I asked John to return her own halter & lead rope (black and brass matching my husbands tack) and John informed me that "she must have lost in when she went missing in the forest". She was difficult to load in the trailer and after about 1/2 hour she was finally loaded, I was happy to leave the property and cried the 3 hour trip back to Bragg Creek / our boarding place. Once she was unloaded, she was still clearly upset and thankfully a fellow boarder was there to hold her to allow me to take the photo (my after photo used in my poster).
Rather than a slow daily introduction to the cattle, John moved Nubie in
the pasture with the cows to fend for herself and to eat and drink
among those she fears most. John readily admits to not once taking her
and offering her the discussed 22 lb daily maintenance hay / oats...his
response is "if she was hungry she could eat the pasture grass"...
ok fine except she is cow phobic and I have visions of her spending 12 days running away from the cows, leaping fences and leaving the property.
We were not informed at any time that she left the property (or of any problems / concerns).
When I asked John / Czechmate to call me to discuss the condition (mind and body) our horse was returned to us, his choice time to call our home was 11:30 PM in which we were treated to name calling, foul language and even a threat to come beat up my husband...we would like to add that in no way are we intimidated by this guy however we are obviously not impressed by this either.
Added Note:
A complaint has been filed with "Animal Protection Services" on behalf of our horse "Nubie"...we included the grey dog in our complaint.
